You can play this game indoors or outdoors, day or night. But you need to make a boundary. But I like it the best when it is dark
Bush
If you are playing in the bush it is hard to make a boundary, but you have to. A good boundary depends on how many players. Between every round you can make alterations larger or smaller, if you tell the players the alterations. Some bush are denser than others, so change the alterations around. Fifty square metres if a good size to start with.
Field(outdoors) The size depends on the players, darkness and the denseness.Between every round you can make alterations larger or smaller, if you tell the players the alterations. Some fields are denser or better to hide in than others, so change the alterations around.
Building(Indoors) If playing in a building, you probably use the whole building. But you still make alterations between the rounds. Some buildings have more cupboards, desks, chairs and benches to hide behind so change the rules if need be.
Second - the time
I have played this game a lot and I've played it at camps, boys groups, youth groups, and I've played the game in churches, fields and the bush, and I've played it for 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 8 minutes and ten minutes.
Bush If playing in the bush it takes more time then playing indoors or on a field.
Field(outdoors) If playing on a field it takes the shortest amount of time, compared to playing in a building or in the bush.
Building(Indoors) If playing in a building takes longer time then playing on a field and shorter than playing in the bush.
I hope I have helped advise you, you just alter it as you see fit.We normally play it between 2 minutes to 10 minutes.
Third - the finders
The amount of finders depends on the amount of hiders.
10-20 hiders------1 finder
20-30 hiders------2 finders
30-40 hiders------3 finders
40 or more hiders-4 or more finders
This is what i recommend, but change it as you see fit.
Bush If playing in the bush, the amount of finders depends on the amount of hiders, the denseness, the size, the darkness and the amount of time. Field(outdoors) If playing on a field, the amount of finders vary on the amount of hiders, the denseness, the size of the field, the darkness and the amount of time. Building(Indoors) If playing in a building, the amount of finders depends on the amount of hiders, the amount of chairs, benches, cupboards, the size of the field, the darkness and the amount of time.
Fourth - Lets play
You chose the finder/s and tell everyone the boundary. Then explain: That once the finder has found you, you come here to this center location. You can't go out of the boundary. You get a minute to hide and then the finder will come. If says your their and you are you found. At the end of the time period, then someone will call out(someone with a watch)that the game is over.Whoever was not found wins. The person who was found first in the finder for the next round.
